PRAIRIES

The American Prairie

 

Prairies are in the middle.  They are in the 'fly-over states.'  They look brown and lifeless.  These are just a few misinterpretations of the United States prairie regions. At first glance they seem boring but in fact they contain some of the most interesting animal and plant interactions on earth.  

 

The Colorado Shortgrass Prairie supports mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, and many plants.  Learn more about Colorado native plants here.  

 

There are lots of animals that call the prairie home.  People don't always have the opportunity to see these animals in the wild but you can visit them here!
